"Young Victoria" was an excellent film. I was glad to see so many in to see it for this, our first ever August film! September's films look good too. I shall miss October's first film ( '..Charlie St Cloud" ) though as every time cinema is on first Wednesday of the month I hae to choose between it and the local History Society! Norb often wins, but in October Hist Soc will.... 'A bomb-aimer's view of Worcestershire' sounds too interesting to miss!

I enjoyed 'Glorious 39' although it would be probably pretty mystifying to anyone who just thought that WW2 was just Good Brits v Nasty Nazis, dealing as it did with the appeasement movement and the lengths that they were prepared to go to to preserve the 'British Way of Life' by allowing 'Herr Hitler' to do what he wanted elsewhere. Of course we now know that if they had had their way Britain would have been defeated and they, like most of us, would have gone to the wall (or worse) to make room for the new German population under Hitlers 'Lebensraum' plans.
'Charlie St Cloud' sounds interesting too, but I can't be there that night!

17 punters in for Brighton Rock. I had heard from people who read, that it is a good book. I was not greatly impressed with film though , too much chasing around in the semi-dark attacking each other with lumps of rock (both the geological and the confectionery variety) and middle-aged scooter riders 'tearing it up'..... and with a somewhat contrived ending involving Jesus and the miracle of the faulty gramophone record! Well, it does say that the film is only 'based on' the book! The book is the 1930s, the film the 1960s and the two milieux do not interchange well! I am at least now resolved to read the book!

My bad luck that I wasn't able to attend the most recent film and now I shall have to wait several long weeks to get my next cinematographic fix! Low attendances mean that it's just not economical to have film showings in the depths of winter (a problem not by any means unique to the Norbury) so I hope for a good turn out for the next film which is in mid-March!

I'm beginning to suffer big-screen withdrawal symptoms! I shall have to go out and buy a bigger TV soon!

'Miss Petigrew Lives for a day' was an excellent British comedy, Why can't we attract bigger audiences? Is Droitwich so brain-dead? "Larry Crowne' next film up! I'm looking forward to to.

Thanks for the excellent note re the new season Grant. Pity we can't seem to get a wider circulation for it than just this forum! I want to see ALL of this batch of films.......except perhaps 'Grease' (I can't stand singalongs!)

Talking of a wider circulation... how come our films aren't listed on the ents site when everything else we're doing is? This is my reply from Ents24 to answer your question: Hi Jon, Thanks for getting in touch. I'm afraid that as our cinema listings and live events listings are run on two seperate platforms, we can't provide ticket links to purchase entry to films. One other thing to note is that we only run times for films a week in advance, from Thursday to Thursday. Peter Wilington Ents24.com

Talking of a wider circulation... how come our films aren't listed on the ents site when everything else we're doing is? However, you will notice that The Norbury is listed as a Cinema if you search for "Cinema" "Near Droitwich". If you click on the Norbury, you are taken to the next film. If you then look at Information, you see the Norbury website link from where you can buy your tickets! Also, if you look at "Venues" at the top, you can click onto The Norbury where there are 2 tabs, "Forthcoming Events" and "Films now Showing". Our films will appear under the Films tab on a weekly basis

There is nothing I can do about it. I only look after the Norbury site, not ents24! Their mistake with the dates was rectified
